Jhooth bolna paap hai
Tere ghar mein saanp hai
[it is a sin to Lie, there is a snake in your house]
A simple rhyme to keep us kids from getting into the habit of lying. Often used amongst little friends to curb or catch a lie.
But what’s lying got to do with a snake in your house ??? And why would it come to harm you ? As kids, we were accustomed to hearing about Iccha dhaari nags and nagins- basically shape shifters- thanks to many Indian movies made in the 70-80s on the same topic. It gets even more interesting when they are looking for the Nag Mani - a brilliant white crystal with ‘superpowers’ - which humans have taken from the Nag (who is the hero of the film).
Coming back to the snake being in your house if you lie — it just means that your Reptilian brain is active. It is choosing lie over truth which is a fear based response, a primitive response of fight or flight. The jingle is a reminder to the child to control the urge to lie and hence helps in taking charge over the reptilian brain responses. The rhyme is embodied in the child and often sings itself out to train the brain into awareness.
By bringing your awareness to the lies that you tell yourself and others one can examine the effect on everyone’s life including your own.
By ‘minding’ your responses your Mind expands,- increased neuroplasticity, heightened senses, greater intuition, calmness, objectivity, compassion, justice and love become the end result of the exercise. Physical and mental health are boosted.
If you continue using the reptilian brain, cognitive mental deterioration occurs giving rise to anxiety, stress, depression, dementia and such.
So all you young people in all ages of bodies, do some searching and wire your brain to the highest truth called Love which lives in your heart. Make sure your thoughts, words and actions work for the best of everyone including you.
Infinite Love light laughter
