Day 14 - 26/08/2014 - Mansarovar to Saga
It was a bitter sweet goodbye to the mystic and gentle Lake and Mountain. It was a pilgrim of gratitude for many. Some willed to come back, some did. Padam was called back as a volunteer based at Kailash for the next 4 years. With our hearts full of an amazing experience we tracked back our journey to Saga.
Day 15 - 27/08/2014 - Saga to Kodari
The next morning, We cross the snow peaks again, according to research done now it's the Pamir Knot.
"The Roof of the World or Top of the World is a metaphoric epithet or phrase used to describe the highest region in the world, also known as High Asia. The term usually refers to the mountainous interior of Asia, including the Pamirs, the Himalayas, the Tibetan Plateau, the Hindu Kush, the Tian Shan, and the Altai Mountains." - Wikipedia
This time I captured the details and soaked in the bigger pictures.
Reached Kodari in the afternoon and crashed. It was approximately 7 hour journey. However, today when I put in the coordinates from my iPhone images and asked for directions to Kodari, it showed me a 147hr route across Thailand (map2). Apart from that, post Corona(2020), Indian citizens are not allowed to reach Kailash. The fire of now or never proved to be a good thing for all of us.
However, Swami Prabodha had something in mind after we reached the guest house. He told Padam, Urmi, Sanjana and I, the plan of creating a skit/play for the evening gathering. Surprised at the idea, knowingly I wondered where Swami got all this energy from!! He told us to highlight the moments of our time together and made me in the director. Somehow we all put our brains together, recruited actors and put on a hilarious and successful show. Swami's unique way of saying "Godari" and always encouraging us with his "10 more minutes" or "some more time", was also enacted well and Swami had a good laugh. Everyone's nuances were put on stage and roars of laughter filled the small room where we all sat on mattresses on the floor.
With yummy memories and food in our system, we lulled away to dreamland listening to the now familiar and soothing white noise of Sunkoshi river flowing right outside our window.
